Ridiculous 91X Songs (March 2001)

Wednesday the 7th, 91X lightened things up by taking suggestions for the most ridiculous song 91X has ever played in its 18-year history.

These songs are ridiculous in a good way and are not necessairily novelty or comedy, but songs that are just plain offbeat or weird.

Suggestions included "Tangerine Speedo" (Caviar), "Knocked Down" (Tubthumping), "Pretty Fly For a White Guy" (Offspring), "Rapmaster Ronnie" (Rethal Bean and the Doonesbury Break Crew), "Date Rape" (Sublime), "You Look Mahverlous" (Billy Crystal), "I Wanna Be a Flintstone" (Screaming Blue Messiahs), "Oh Yea" (Yellow), "Push the Little Daisies" (Ween), "Peaches" (Presidents of the United States of America), "Put Your Hands on the Puppethead" (They Might Be Giants), "Hey Rocky" (Boris Badenov), "Jane Get Me Off This Crazy Thing" (Tee Vee Toons Master Mix), "I Kissed a Girl" (Jill Sobule), "Bitchin' Camaro" (Dead Kennedys), "You'll Dance to Anything" (Dead Milkmen), "Take The Skinheads Bowling" (Camper Von Beethoven), and two I suggested on the air: "Shiny Shiny" (Haze Fantaze) and "A-E-I-O-U" (Ebn Ozn). There's also a quirky new song 91X has been playing: "Naive Song" (Merewase (sp?))

Muckley the host played a Spanish version of Right Said Fred's "I'm Too Sexy."

Chris Cantore suggested Bob Goblin's "Pinata", Robin Roth said "Googoomok" by The Cramps, and Hillary suggested her vote for the most ridiculous song was the song named as the winner played at the top of the 9 O'clock hour...

"Detatchable Penis" by King Missle was the winner.

Demented Artist On The Hot Millionaire Seat

Yes, it was THAT Dan Orr, of the Dan Orr Project http://www.danorrproject.com/, who not only had several songs such as "Livin' La Vida Broka" and "Like "Pink" But Not Quite" played on the Dr. Demento Show (also on DFSX), but he was recently on the hot seat, sitting across from Regis Philbin on "Who Wants To Be a Millionaire" last Thursday and Friday. He missed the $64,000 question and wound up taking home $32,000.

His new CD is also available from his website.

Dr. Demento Update: "Potato-In-My-Pants-Blues" has climbed all the way to #2 on Dr. Demento's "Funny 5" countdown. The Dan Orr Project has had other songs in the demented countdown including "Like Pink But Not Quite" and former #1 "Livin' La Vida Broka."

First, Valerie Bertinelli, then Danny Bonaduce, now Dan Orr. What's next? Austin Powers?
